Stop by the Aull Center on Tuesday, October 15th at 7 PM for a presentation exploring the indigenous history behind the Mothman legend as part of our Haunted History Month in October. Ever wondered why the appearance of the Mothman has been linked in popular culture to the “Curse of Chief Cornstalk”? Now’s your time to find out!

Chief Cornstalk was a Shawnee leader in the area of what is know West Virginia in the 1700s, and played a pivotal role in the series of negotiations and conflicts that led to Virginia’s eventual occupation of the region. Today, he is often spoken of in conjunction with the Mothman as a vengeful spirit visiting punishment upon modern Americans for the seizure of his people’s lands.

On October 15th, the Aull Center staff will help you separate the fact from the fiction.
