A 13-mile long reservoir, Cheat Lake has three marinas, hiking trails and places to rent boats, kayaks, canoes, paddle boards and more. Depending on the time of year, the view may be different as the leaves change, but with trees and miles of water, this is a place to snap a breathtaking panoramic image. Head out on the water with your phone in a water-safe bag and take pics while you kayak, or take a walk along the Cheat Lake trail for some panoramas.

Glade Farms Campground

If you’re looking for picturesque streams with water cascading over rocks, trees that seem to almost form archways and fall leaves for miles, head to the Glade Farms Campground for a night – or even just the day – to get those insta-worthy images you’ve been longing for within nature.

Caperton Trail

Six miles of paved surfaces means you can snap a photo while rollerblading or skateboarding, or you can hold an impromptu photo shoot in the archway entrance to the trail. Tree-lined and along the waterfront, you’re sure to get some great shots along this trail.

West Virginia Botanic Garden

The botanic garden has several trails where you can take photos of various plants, flowers and herbs, as well as historic structures from the old Tibbs Run Reservoir. These make a great addition to any Instagram feed!

Dorsey’s Knob Park

At sunset, climbing to the top of Sky Rock gives great views of the colors as the sun goes down over the Morgantown area. The views of the surrounding areas can be taken any time of day, though, so be sure to add this one to your Instagram snapshot list.

Coopers Rock Overlook

At the Coopers Rock State Forest, you can hike to a drop above the mile-wide gorge, giving sunset views and, in the fall, shots of the red, yellow and orange leaves as they change colors. The river can also be seen from this overlook.

Appalachian Gallery

mugs, jars, cups, bottles, soup bowls

Considered one of the most beautiful stores in town, the Appalachian Gallery has jewelry, hand-blown glass, pottery, books and more created by local West Virginian artists. In addition to the unique items you’ll find inside, the outside of the store shows some of the town’s past in a historic building.

Morgantown is full of unique, beautiful spots to stop and take a photo. The WVU campus also offers some great spaces for grams. So snap some pics, share them with your followers and tag them so the world can see these instagrammable spots in Morgantown.
