Visit the Alpine Lake Resort on Thursday, November 11, beginning at 4 p.m. for Honoring Veterans Day. Free appetizers for all veterans! Plus, veterans will receive 30% off meals. Alpine Lake Resort encourages veterans to bring their photos and share their stories.

Take the family to Rowlesburg, to the Szilagyi Center (old high school), where you can explore the Greatest Generation World War II Museum.

Find your seat on High Street in Downtown Morgantown for the Annual Veteran’s Day Parade, taking place on November 11 at 6 p.m.! This event is free and open to the public.

Grab a bite to eat at the veteran-owned and operated restaurant and bar, Mountain Mama’s! They have a large menu of food and drinks and a variety of homemade wing sauces. Make sure to ask about their daily veteran discounts!

Set aside time for a bit of self-care with the help of Preston Dental Care, PLLC. On Saturday, November 13, veterans without insurance can receive free dental exams, cleanings, and restorations as part of the Smile for Heroes event. All interested should call ahead to schedule their appointment and provide proof of their military service.

In town for WVU Football Military Appreciation Day on November 6? Stop by the Veteran Tailgate hosted by the Wounded Warrior Project and the Morgantown Veteran Center for a family-friendly event with catering provided. Reservations are required for this event.

Craft beer lovers will want to make the trip out to Terra Alta to visit High Ground Brewing. This veteran-owned brewery features a taproom that is open to the public, pet-friendly, and hosts live music events every week.

While you’re in Terra Alta, stop by Riffle Farms – a veteran-owned, grass-fed American bison farm where guests can enjoy tours and tastings, camping getaways, and family-friendly events.

Veterans and active-duty servicemen and servicewomen can eat for free up to $12 at the Green Turtle with their military ID card.  Make sure to check out our participating Mountaineer Deal restaurants, such as Smokin Country’s BBQ Pit LLC, Colasante’s Ristorante & Pub, Walzzy’s Hotdogs, and more while dining around town!

Mountaineer Country also has many restaurants and stores offering discounts and free meals for veterans on Veterans Day. Make sure to have your military identification to take part in the deals.

Need more adventure? Current and former military personal can take advantage of a 50% discount on select cabin and lodging reservations between November 1 and November 15, thanks to West Virginia State Parks. This includes outdoor destinations in Mountaineer County like Tygart Lake State Park.
