Honor the veteran in your life along with other veterans who have served our country this Veteran’s Day, on Saturday, November 11, 2016. Here in Greater Morgantown, we are grateful for those who fought for our freedom and want to show appreciation. Take a look at the following events that Greater Morgantown has to offer and help us celebrate!
Veteran’s are welcome to stop by Alpine Lake Resort both Friday, November 10 and Saturday, November 11, to receive 15% off of their meals. ID is required.
The annual Veteran’s Day parade hosted by Morgantown City Hall will take place in downtown Morgantown on Saturday, Nov. 11 starting at 10am to 11am. The parade will begin at the top of High Street and continue throughout Wiley Street to Foundry Street.
All veteran’s can stop by Atria’s on Veteran’s Day during lunch, between 11:00am to 3:00pm, to receive a complimentary sandwich. Proof of military service is valid. Learn more here.
The Stewartstown Community Veterans’ Appreciation Dinner is Saturday from 11:00am to 6:00pm. Members of the Stewartstown community and the general public are encouraged to attend, and all are welcome to come honor those who served or are serving. This is the 100th Anniversary of World War I and the theme of the dinner is “Life in Stewartstown in 1917.” A covered dish dinner and reception starts at 6:00pm and a historical conversation about life in Stewartstown to follow, such as shared stories and memories by the guests. A special presentation honoring the WWI Stewartstown Veterans will also be made and attending families of those Veterans will be acknowledged.
The Szilagyi Center in Rowlesburg, WV is holding a Veteran’s Day Belgian Waffles event Saturday at 1:00pm. Waffles are made by an authentic recipe from Belgium, add fruit topping, whipped cream and syrup. Free for all veterans (others by donation please). The event will end when they run out of waffles, so get there early!
Join Operation Welcome Home at Triple S Harley-Davidson on Saturday, Nov. 11 from noon to 3:00pm for the V.I.B. All-American Tailgate Event and Military Appreciation Day. There will be free food, drinks and tailgate games. Plus, enjoy 15% off merchandise while you’re there and enter for a chance to win WVU vs. Texas game day tickets.
CASA For Kids is also holding a Salute to Veteran’s Dance at the local Elks Lodge 411 on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 6:00 to 11:00pm. Tickets start at $30. There will be plenty of fun, food and dancing, and entertainment by the band, The Classics Rock.
Greater Morgantown also has many restaurants and stores offering discounts and free meals for veterans on Veterans’ Day. Make sure to have your military identification in order to take part in the deals.
