GMCVB To Provide Visitor Services To Football Fans With New Mobile Information Center

The Greater Morgantown Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) will be taking tourism to the streets during football season, utilizing its newly-wrapped, customized RV called “MIC,” Mobile Information Center.  The MIC will help support the GMCVB’s mission to better serve the community with the influx of traveling fans, both home and visiting.

“The MIC is a new and innovative way to reach visitors and create a positive experience during their time in Morgantown,” said Peggy Myers-Smith, GMCVB President and CEO.  “WVU is the top reason people are visiting Morgantown and it is our job to expand on the WVU experience by promoting the area while these travelers are here; from rail trails, Coopers Rock, shopping, dining, nightlife, outdoor activities, and more.”

With a new set of fans venturing to the Greater Morgantown area, the GMCVB will be parking the MIC on game days at the corner of Patteson Drive and University Avenue (the lower section of the parking lot by The Boston Beanery) or in the front circle of The Erickson Alumni Center.  The game and MIC schedule will be:

DateOpponentCVB MIC Location
Sept. 1 vs. Marshall Boston Beanery
Sept. 22 vs. Maryland Boston Beanery
Sept. 29 vs. Baylor Boston Beanery
Nov. 3 vs TCU The Erickson Alumni Center
Nov. 17 vs. Oklahoma  The Erickson Alumni Center
Dec. 1 vs. Kansas The Erickson Alumni Center

Fans will be able to ask questions about the area, get directions, maps, Visitors’ Guides, and other local information.  Operating hours for the MIC will be based on game times.  For the Sept. 1st Marshall vs WVU game, the MIC will be serving fans from 8:30 am until game time at 12:00 pm.

In addition to visitor service on game days, the MIC will serve as the headquarters for Mayor Jim Manilla’s challenge to all visiting teams’ city’s mayors: the losing team’s mayor will wear the winning team’s colors at his/her next city council meeting.  Mayors will be invited to exchange their team’s gear at the MIC following the games.
