Morgantown Is Home to a Diverse Culinary Scene

Named the “Best Town for Foodies” by WV Living, Greater Morgantown offers a wide variety of cuisines to accommodate every taste bud. Tastes from around the world define the art of dining. Whether it’s a family affair, romantic rendezvous, or alfresco by the water’s edge, you’ll find upscale dining rooms, neighborhood bistros, family-owned eateries, spirited pubs, and high-profile chain establishments located throughout the city.

Walk down High Street to find local favorites such as Tailpipes to try a gourmet burger and shake. Another local favorite, Black Bear Burritos, has two locations that both create unique burritos filled with local ingredients and offer 24 beers on tap to choose from.

Also awarded by WV Living are Atomic Grill, named “Best BBQ Joint” and Pies and Pints, named “Best Pizza.” Try Atomic Grill for ribs, pulled pork, chicken, brisket, sandwiches and even a vegetarian option called “tofu-beque,” or Pies and Pints for specialty pizzas with genious topping combinations that you won’t find anywhere else.

Breweries & Wineries

Craft beer enthusiasts will go crazy over the multiple breweries located in the Downtown and Historic Wharf District. Join the movement by visiting Chestnut Brew Works and trying its famous Halleck Pale Ale, one of the oldest microbreweries, Mountain State Brewing Company, or Morgantown Brewing Company for specials such as “2 for 1 Tuesday.”

If you’re a wine lover, attend a weekly wine tasting at restaurants like Sargasso, or visit Forks of Cheat Winery for a tour of the winery and distillery, wine tastings, and the opportunity to choose from a multitude of local grape and fruit West Virginia wine.
