This fall is filled with endless activities! From decorating your house in vibrant reds, yellows, and oranges, to carving pumpkins, shopping for candy, or finally breaking out the costume you’ve been waiting to wear this year —the fall season is always a good time in Mountaineer Country!

Friday, October 13

Brooms and Black Magical Night

Join Gallery 62 West in celebrating the spookiest day of the year! They will be hosting this night of supernatural fun for you to make some Halloween home decor. The night will start with you making a witches broom, the crafting supplies will be provided, but bring your own broomstick to decorate! Indulge yourself in some tasty treats, also provided, while you watch a Halloween movie!

Candy Quest 

Head to Chestnut Ride Chuch for a night of whimsy and candy, of course! Candy Quest is a family-friendly event for children of all ages to enjoy. Wear your best costume and embark on a quest to find the sweet treasures that lie around every corner!

Taylor County Monster Maze

Looking for a Halloween event that your littles can participate in? Look no further, this Moster Maze is made just for them! Navigate your way through a maze of prizes, collect candy, and take part in other Halloween activities. This event is catered to kids in preschool and kindergarten but of course, adults and older kids will enjoy this maze, too. Dress the part, put on your spookiest costume!

Marina Trunk-or-Treat

Come out and show support at the Tygart Lake Marina for their second annual Trunk or Treat event. Trunk or Treating begins at 2 p.m. and set up begins at 1 p.m., if you are unable to set up a “Trunk” they are accepting donations of candy, novelty treats for children of all ages, cookies for our Foundation table, or monetary donations. All can be dropped off at the Lodge front desk. Volunteers are also needed to help. Costumes are optional but encouraged!

Triple S Harley-Davidson Trunk-or-Treat

Round up your little ones and bring them to Triple S Harley-Davidson for Trunk-or-Treat from noon to 2 p.m.! There will be a photo booth for you to take pictures with your costumes on, there is no charge for digital photos or printed photos with a $5 donation to benefit Toys for Tots.

Suncrest Towne Centre Trick-or-Treat

Start trick-or-treating early at Suncrest Towne Centre! Wear your favorite Halloween costume, and pick out your favorite candy. Get some dinner before your little ones devour their treats at one of the many restaurants.

Howl-O-Ween Doggie Trick-or-Treat at the West Virginia Botanic Garden

Don’t let your pup miss out on the fun this Halloween season, Howl-O-Ween Doggie Trick-or-Treat is ready for your four-legged friend at West Virginia Botanic Garden. Bring them out on a leash for dog trick-or-treat to win a prize for the best-dressed pooch and bring your own bag to gather treats for them. Pre-registration is required online at $5 per vehicle. All dogs must be cleaned up after, well-behaved dogs only, please.

Granville Halloween Festival

Come out for an evening of free fun at the Halloween Festival hosted by the Town of Granville, the Granville Police Department & Granville Fire Department! Trick-or-treating at Granville Park will occur from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. followed by the Halloween Festival. Activities are for children 12 years old and under. Candy donations may be dropped off at Granville Town Hall.

Monster Mash 

RDVIC, Taylor County Family Resources, and Taylor County Patch are working together to raise awareness about October being recognized as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Since October is also the month of Halloween, they are hosting a Monster Mash to tie all aspects in and raise community knowledge of Domestic Violence Awareness Month & the importance of community coming together to support causes! Join them for an evening filled with Halloween-themed fun! They will have various activities, food and drink, door/raffle prizes, music, and more!

Moonlight Market & Craft-and-Treat

Moonlight Market returns with a new lineup of Artists and makers! As always, there will be food trucks and entertainment with live music. Now for the craft, there will be multiple activity tents as part of their free Craft-and-Treat.

Goshen Baptist Church Trunk-or-Treat 

Bring your kids to Trick-or-Treat at Goshen Baptist Church! Come and enjoy this free, fun family event with games, food, and fellowship. Wear your best costumes and enjoy!

Kid’s Halloween Cookie Decorating Class

Join Arthurdale Heritage for a spooky, fun time at a Kid’s Halloween Cookie Decorating Class in historic Center Hall! Kids will get to decorate a variety of cookies (and eat a few too!). Costumes are encouraged, and a cute backdrop will be available for you to take photos! This class is best for kids aged 5-16, but younger children may attend with a parent. Ticket sales close on October 26, 2023, at 11:30 p.m.
