A Weekend Full of Buckwheat Cakes and Craft Beer
Looking Back at a Fun-Filled Weekend in Greater Morgantown!
Family, friends and visitors alike ventured to Greater Morgantown this past weekend for the 76th Annual Buckwheat Festival, as well as the Homerun and Hops Craft Beer Festival. Whether you enjoy eating Buckwheat Cakes or you were interested in tasting beer from local breweries, these were two events to be at this past weekend! With good company, great venues and perfect fall weather, guests near and far experienced an entertaining weekend in the Mountain State.
This year’s Buckwheat Festival, “Sweeter Each Year,” kicked off on Thursday, September 28 in Kingwood, West Virginia and went until Sunday, October 1. The weekend included festivities such as, the Fireman’s parade, Friday’s School Day parade and Saturday’s Farmer’s Day parade, which featured “The Pride of West Virginia” West Virginia University’s Marching Band.
Individuals also enjoyed a coronation of King and Queen Buckwheat, a livestock show and a concert by the band, Little Texas. However, it’s not a festival without carnival rides, arts and crafts, and plenty of food! In fact, the delicious Buckwheat Cakes were served all weekend long!
With more than 50 brews to sample, food vendors, a cornhole tournament, and live entertainment by local bands Weary Space Wanderer and Rock Bass, it was a fun afternoon to hang out with friends within the outfield walls!
