Morgantown Christmas Day Parade
The Parade Marshal is, Jamie Summerlin, a Marine that ran across the U.S. this year to raise money and awareness for the "Wounded Warrior Project". Jamie is now focusing on the "Camos to Cap" program that supports WV Veterans in completing their higher education goals and graduate and "Operation Welcome Home" where there will be a place to meet at Mylan Park with fellow veterans.
This year's Parade will feature about 130 units and is among the largest parades in our area. Middle School and High School bands, along with Servicemen and Servicewomen, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Boy Scouts, church groups, dance groups, schools, seniors, and local area businesses. There will be ten (10) snow plows with blades that have been hand painted by area County and WVU students and BOPARC. The Osiris Shriners from Wheeling, WV will bring their
Mountaineer Patrol, Tin Lizzy Patrol and The Hillbilly Clan. WBOY-TV 12 and Snowbird will make an appearance. The Mon County 4-H volunteers will be conducting a Holiday sing-a-long and serving hot chocolate on the Courthouse Square from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM+ before the Parade.
The Mon Wireless Association volunteers will be providing communications support. WEST TV will professionally record the entire Parade for re-broadcast on Comcast Channel 3 from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Christmas Day.
