A history teacher at University High School was diagnosed with colon cancer in May of 2010, and a student started the Hawk Walk as a way to support, encourage, and provide for her. On Sunday, September 9, 2012, from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m., UHS will be hosting Hawk Walk for a third time; this year's focus is on brain cancer. Proceeds will go to the Let the Journey Begin Foundation, to the American Cancer Society, and to the Julie Foster Fund, a trust created from proceeds in order to help faculty at UHS with serious medical need.
