Poet William F. DeVault at MonArts
Morgantown native William F. DeVault, the "Romantic Poet of the Internet" (1996, Yahoo!), will be speaking and reading from his works, Friday July 6th, from 6:30 to 9:00 pm at the Monongalia Arts Center.
DeVault will be performing works from his latest book "Selected Poems and Passions: 2004-2011" as well as his earlier books, including "The Morgantown Suite Poems".
Books and CDs will be available for purchase, profits going to the Morgantown Poets.
DeVault was one of only 4 Morgantown natives listed by the Appalachian Education Initiative's "Art&Soul" coffee table book, which profiled "50 outstanding artists" educated in the Mountain State. A 1973 graduate of Morgantown High School, he is considered one of the earliest literary artists of the "digital renaissance" and has lectured and read from Boston to Los Angeles and he is often best known for the meme "a quote is just a tattoo on the tongue".
Also appearing with DeVault will be local poet Daniel S. McTaggart, who collaborated with him on the book "Psalms of the Monster River Cult", a collection about Northern West Virginia and who authored the poetry collection "Midnight Muse in a Convenience Store" and, most recently, "Diner Poems".
