This fun and delightful class explores the world of early childhood music with singing, rhymes, movement, and instruments. Learn games and activities you can do with your child to develop a strong musical foundation. Children will explore, imitate, and create music through improvisation and composition by singing and playing instruments. Meeting on a weekly basis, children will develop their listening skills and will learn music from a variety of musical genres (classical, folk, jazz, etc.). Adults are welcome to join this fun and popular class designed for those who desire to build confidence, increase productivity, create social connections and inspire creativity through music making in a relaxed, carefree environment.Section I is designed for beginners or for those who had lessons at one time, but need a refresher.Section II is designed for those who have completed Piano for Fun I or have basic reading skills and knowledge of major and minor chords. This section will build on reading skills, chords and ensemble playing.Section III will focus on developing technique, repertoire, and ensembles. Solo repertoire studied can reflect individual preferences and tastes. Starting February 9 2012, the orchestra name officially changes to Morgantown Community Orchestra. We are starting a new cycle for this organization with a new and more inclusive name as well as with very interesting and exciting projects.The Morgantown Community Orchestra (MCO) is the largest music ensemble of the Community Music Program at WVU. It is designed for intermediate and advanced level players in the community who wish to share and develop their talents while enjoying music-making in a friendly orchestral setting.
