White Park

This 170-acre park provides five miles of wooded trails for mountain biking and winter hiking. The park is also home to the Morgantown Ice Arena, an indoor ice skating rink open to the public Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. For hours call 304-292-6865. Take I-68 Exit 1, continue on US-119 North. Take Green Bag Road to Hite Street. White Park is located on Mississippi Street in Morgantown, W.Va. Park trails open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.


Trails at White Park



Five miles of wooded trails interspersed throughout the park are used by hikers, bikers, and wildlife enthusiasts.  White Park Trails are a playground for mountain bikers. There are many options to try jumps – including a few gap jumps that locals have built. The trails are fast and flowing with very few obstacles. The park is managed by the Morgantown Board of Parks and Recreation and the trails are maintained by local riders.


Learning Trails: Take on mixed terrain through densely forested hills 3,102-foot trail. The Learning Trails are a popular route for hikers and mountain bikers looking for an intense trail that’s as beautiful as it is exciting.

Lakeshore Trail: This 1,622-foot trail connects the White Park Parking lot with the Woodland trail. The moderate trail is relatively level, with only a few steep inclines and declines throughout.

Big Trees Trail: Prepare for a climb along the Big Tree Trail. This 1,141-foot trail takes hikers through the uppermost forest of White Park, crossing Mississippi Street and connecting with Woodland Trail. 

Woodland Trail: With a total distance of 3,632-feet, the Woodland Trail takes hikers along the Cobun Creek Reserve, around the southern edge of White Park. A viewing point over the Cobun Creek Reserve can be accessed at the western end of this trail.

Rail Trail Connector: This 956-foot connector trail provides easy access between White Park and the Caperton/Mon River Rail Trail. The trail ends at an intersection along University Avenue. Caution is advised when using the bike lane.
